Goooaaalll ....it must be Haribo time!

A belated happy new year to you all! January and February are always a strange couple of months for me, it seems to be taken up with accounts, tax return and booking shows for the coming year ... but this year it has included going to watch plenty of football!

I decided it was time to introduce my seven year old son to the beautiful game. As a Southend United fan my first thoughts were to take him to Roots Hall but would he sit still for 90 minutes ..probably not, so we decided to go non-league! My sons's first ever live game would be East Thurrock v Concord Rangers on a very cold New years day ...a 3.2 win to the away side and we were hooked, goals, a sending off, friendly banter, tea with proper milk and a promise of Haribo sweets for my son every time there was a goal ...what was there not to like. We have since visited three more grounds, the homes of Bowers and Pitsea, Canvey Island, Concord Rangers and Thurrock planned for this Saturday! Enjoyable wet and cold Saturday afternoons spent with my son with plenty of goals (and plenty of Haribo consumed!)
